Blog Tour/Review & Giveaway ($10 GC) - Full Steam Ahead by Valerie Chase

Series: Seaswept #1
Release date: January 14th 2014

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Seven days aboard a luxury cruise. The perfect getaway from it all.
At least, that’s what Georgia Cantwell was hoping for.

Georgia wishes she could run away from the nightmare that has

consumed her life, but she can’t. With her inbox filling with

menacing emails, all she can do is try to get through her sorority’s

winter break cruise without anyone realizing how wrecked she is.

So she really doesn’t need Jace McLaren seeing through her

tacked-on smile when no one else seems to notice.

Growing up with a father in jail, Jace knows from experience that if you’re going through hell, there’s no way out but through. He has always steered away from girls like Georgia with her ice-queen attitude, but she’s in real trouble, and despite himself he pushes past her walls.

As much as Georgia tries to ignore it, Jace won’t let her pretend with him. But she can’t risk telling him the truth. Her past would
ruin his trust, her family, her future—everything.

But out on the open ocean, there’s nowhere to hide. And when

Georgia’s secrets come tumbling out, it might take more than Jace

 to save her.

Review

I was pleasantly surprised with this story because it sucked me right in and it was a read I couldn’t part with until I reached the ending.

I have to be honest and admit that I am getting pretty tired of New Adult books and even though this is one of them – the way the author composed her words around each scene was a breath of fresh air in an already stagnant genre. What I loved most about this author’s style was that she wrote about everyday life with a little bit of pizzazz – she achieved this without letting go of the realistic scenarios and didn’t OVER EXAGGERATE characteristics and drama.

Why not 5 stars? Well, as much as I enjoyed the book – it was the end of the book that did me in. Everything just fell into place to easily and it was a bit unbelievable.

Re-Cap

Georgia has a secret and is now stuck on a cruise with all her sorority and fraternity friends…well I guess they are not all friends….especially when it comes to Hunter (her ex) and Jace (his best friend). Georgia just can’t get into the partying scene so she decides to move down to the less expensive cabins…but lo and behold….who does she find there? The manwhore, Jace, and trust me – neither one of them are doing cartwheels at first.

Jace isn’t who Georgia thought he would be and Georgia is a far cry from how Jace pegged her to act. It’s not the “love at first sight” for these two but after time spent together and opening up to one another – a bond begins to form…..and…..

Well, silly – I’m not going to tell you – read the book!

Wrap-Up

A cute love story filled with drama but not over the top! Spectacular for a debut novel!
